Memories and thoughts of Peter from cards and emails.

Peter will be sadly missed but we hold in our hearts such happy memories we shared together. Although we only knew Peter for a short period of his life, we packed so much in that we feel we have lost a friend we knew for a lifetime. We will miss him dearly. He was one of the first people from Guyana that I got to know in the long off days of the 60’s when I first arrived in London. Celia and him were great people for the Saturday night parties. Treasure the memories of a very special person that he was. Early memories – the stolen bike, hours of table tennis – Peter the champion, and playing cricket under the house. We will miss his sense of humour and lots of laughter. The trip to Portugal, cricket at Shenley, searching for cows and getting lost in Barbados, summer BBQ’s – all wonderful memories. These will remain with us always. Fond memories of time spent with you and Peter –especially one particular summer afternoon! Peter was an amazing character with a zest for life and I know he will be greatly missed by many. We have so many memories of times spent from those first days in the Great Western through to last September. I remember being at his cricket club. Did anyone enjoy cricket more? James immediately talked about their chats re. Arsenal and of course what a cool guy he was. That was the thing Peter was cool whatever age you were, he was interested in you. He loved the ladies and made you feel a million dollars! What a loss of a vibrant, colourful man in this often drab grey world we live in! Peter was a good friend and colleague and lived life to the full. I will always have good memories of working with and socialising with him. I worked with Peter as you know for a number of years in Maintenance at Wandle. Sometimes he drove me mad, but the remaining time, he was a great listener, advisor and friend. Times like this make you realise you cannot take life for granted and I will always regret putting off meeting up with Peter. He has left me that legacy, to stop procrastinating and to live life. He was much loved by us all, whereas for me it was like having a second big brother, and his love, kindness, wit and energetic presence will be greatly missed. In fact I will say that he was an incomparable person and my only regret is not having a chance to share more time with him, and enjoy his lively personality at length and frequently. I can count the number of my true friends on one hand and I always considered Pete to be one of them. P.S. On a lighter note - he also used to throw one hell of a party! I always thought of him, and still do as a reflective sort of person - never reluctant to enter an argument and hold his corner. Not suffering fools and letting them know. He was such a great guy and great fun to be around. Peter was the life and soul of the party. Peter was very much loved by us all, such a character and the life and soul of many of our gatherings, he will be greatly missed. He batted his innings and he hit many boundaries. I remain buoyed by the many happy memories of times we all spent together.
